The endoscope can be used for many different reasons. This patient had a CT scan first, to determine what the problem was. As you can see in the last photo there was something lodged in the nasopharynx (back of the nasal cavity).

Once the patient was under general anaesthetic, Simon Bate (Advanced Practitioner) could pass the endoscope down in order to have a look at what the object could be.

Simon managed to remove the object with the assistance of our nursing team, and found it was a bone fragment. This patient recovered very well and felt a lot better for not having that bit of bone stuck anymore!
